Tucson sweeps a doubleheader from 51s

The Las Vegas 51s drop both games of a doubleheader Friday to visiting Tucson at Cashman Field.

The 51s were limited to four hits in the first game, falling 6-0 in seven innings — most doubleheaders are seven-inning games in Triple-A baseball.

The second game, however, went eight innings after the 51s evened the score at four in the bottom of the seventh. But Tucson won the game in the eighth on an RBI groundout from Jonathan Galvez.

Eric Campbell went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Las Vegas in the second game, and catcher Francisco Pena also had three hits.

The final game of the series is at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. It’s the 51s’ last game until July 18 for the Triple-A all-star game.
