Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval delivers the State of the State address at the Legislature in Carson City on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.

Gov. Brian Sandoval is in Mexico leading a trade mission to foster business and education ties.

The three-day trip was announced Monday by the governor's office.

Sandoval is accompanied by members of his Office of Economic Development as well as private business leaders and state education officials.

On Monday, Sandoval and Economic Development Director Steve Hill led a meeting with Nevada higher education officials and Mexico's sub-secretary. They discussed enhancing student-faculty exchanges for teaching certificates.

The itinerary also included a meeting with Mexico's Council for Foreign Trade and Investment.

This is Sandoval's third trade mission abroad since taking office in 2011. Last year he led missions to China and South Korea as well as Canada.

A trip to Israel is being planned.
