Mischievous cat knocks out power for 11,000 in Henderson

Updated Wednesday, July 17, 2013 | 1:40 p.m.

About 11,000 NV Energy customers lost power early Wednesday due to an outage centered near Windmill Parkway and Valle Verde Drive.

The utility first reported the outage at 7:03 a.m., and power was restored about 8 a.m., NV Energy spokeswoman Kelley Mulroy said.

The outage was caused by a cat that got into a substation and somehow damaged the equipment, Mulroy said.
