51s use 10-run inning to dispose of Reno

The Las Vegas 51s enjoyed another offensive outburst against the Reno Aces.

Tuesday, the 51s sent 14 batters to the plate in the third inning to score 10 runs, then held on for a 12-10 victory at Cashman Field.

The 51s, which have won 11 of 15 games this season against Reno, had a nine-run inning Sunday in a victory against Reno.

Mike Baxter had a pair of hits Tuesday in the big inning, including a two-run home run. Eric Campbell had a two-run single and Jamie Hoffmann provided a RBI double to further fuel the rally.

Despite leading 10-3 after the third inning, the Las Vegas lead was nearly erased. Reno scored two runs in each the fourth, sixth and seventh innings.

Las Vegas put the game away with runs in the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, Hoffmann had a run-scoring single; in the seventh, Baxter scored on a sacrifice fly from Wilmer Flores.

The eight-game home-and-home series continues at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Cashman Field.
