4 carriers will offer policies on Nevada health exchange

CARSON CITY — Four insurance carriers have filed with the state of offer insurance policies on the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.

The providers are Anthem, Nevada Health Co-op, Saint Mary's and Health Plan of Nevada. Each will be offering HMO policies.

People in southern Nevada and Washoe County will have the most choices, with all four carriers offering coverage. Rural counties will have a choice of two.

The state Insurance Division on Friday released proposed rates, which will not be finalized until September. But the preliminary rates suggest southern Nevadans will find better deals than people living elsewhere in the state, especially in rural regions.

Rate proposals show a disparity of around $400 per month for people 60 years of age, though many may qualify for federal subsidies, lowering the cost.
