Big night from Wilmer Flores helps 51s down Tacoma

Wilmer Flores and Brandon Hicks each had two-run home runs Friday for the Las Vegas 51s in a 12-5 victory against host Tacoma.

Hicks, the 51s’ No. 9 hitter, finished with four RBIs, while Flores went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Josh Satin scored three runs for the 51s, Andrew Brown hit a solo home run, and Jamie Hoffmann had two hits and runs.

Zack Wheeler, the New York Mets top pitching prospect who is expected to be promoted this month to the big leagues, received a no decision in possibly his last start. He went 4 and 2/3 innings, striking out seven and giving up four runs.

The series continues Saturday.
