Suspicious device at library district building causes evacuation

Unfounded bomb threat

An unfounded call for a suspicious object forced the evacuation of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District on Tuesday afternoon.

Metro Police responded at 11:54 a.m. to a call of a suspicious device or package at the district building, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Metro Officer Laura Meltzer said. Employees evacuated the building and Metro units searched the building until about 2 p.m., after which employees were allowed back into the building, she said.

Metro did not find any suspicious device in the building, Meltzer said.

The incident appears to be unconnected to an earlier pipe bomb explosion in the northeast Las Vegas Valley, Meltzer said.
