Single-car crash near McCarran kills driver

Fatal accident

A single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning near McCarran International Airport killed a 64-year-old Henderson man.

Metro Police said the accident happened at 11:07 a.m. on Patrick Lane, about 300 feet west of Eastern Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicates a 2009 Dodge Avenger driving west on Patrick Lane entered the path of oncoming traffic, struck a south curb and left the roadway, police said.

As the Dodge left the roadway, it hit two trees before re-entering Patrick Lane and crossing all lanes of traffic and striking the north curb, police said.

The driver was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His identity has not been released.

Speed did not appear to be a factor, police said. It’s unclear if the driver suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.

Two passengers in the car, a 64-year-old woman and 35-year-old man, were not injured, police said.
