Weekend best bets: NASCAR, Boyz II Men and Four Tops

Boyz II Men Announce Mirage Residency

With NASCAR in town, it's hard to think of anything else, but Las Vegas is certainly a multifaceted entertainment town so if car racing isn't your thing, try a concert from the Four Tops or a fun pet event at Floyd Lamb Park. Here are our best entertainment bets for the weekend:

    • Start your engines? Yeah, do that.

      Thursday-Sunday: NASCAR at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

      NASCAR Weekend at LVMS begins Thursday with a free NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session. Racing begins Friday with Stratosphere Pole Day. The NASCAR Nationwide Series takes center stage Saturday with the annual Sam’s Town 300 at 1:15 p.m. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kobalt Tools 400 is scheduled to start at noon Sunday. Ticket packages are $99-$245 and gates open at 8:30 Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.

      Thursday: Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at the Smith Center

      The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by Wynton Marsalis, is comprised of 15 of the finest soloists and ensemble players in jazz. The group will perform a variety of masterpieces, as well as original works and arrangements.

    • Husband and wife Neil Girardo and Pat Benatar perform at the House of Blues.

      Saturday: Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo at LVH

      Pat Benatar returns to the LVH-Las Vegas Hotel with her high-energy rock hits like "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Love Is a Battlefield," "We Belong" and "Invincible." The four-time Grammy winner will be joined by her husband, Neil Giraldo, the lead guitarist of the band who has performed on all of Benatar's albums. Tickets are $49-$79 and the show starts at 9 p.m.

    • Kevin James and Ray Romano, a comedy tag team at Jet.

      Friday-Saturday: Ray Romano and Kevin James at Mirage

      Ray Romano and Kevin James perform at the Terry Fator Theatre inside the Mirage. Comedian Ray Romano of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "King of Queens" star Kevin James join together to entertain audience members with their quick wit and smooth comedic styles. Tickets are $100-$121 and shows are at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

    • Saturday: Rock 'n Roll Wine at Body English

      Enjoy 40-plus wines from more than 15 wineries plus music from VH1 “You Oughta Know” artist Eric Hutchinson at the first Rock 'n Roll Wine tasting event of the year, held at Body English at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Tickets are $40-$45 and the event starts at 7 p.m.

    • Brew's Best beer fest at Lake Las Vegas.

      Saturday: Brew’s Best beer fest at Lake Las Vegas

      Brew’s Best beer fest returns to the the Village at Lake Las Vegas. Local and regional breweries are invited to participate by donating their brews for sampling. Advance tickets are $25 per person or $30 at the event and include your sampling kit and unlimited beer sampling. For guests who want the chance to speak with the brewers, opt for the limited VIP tickets for the first hour of the event from 1-2 p.m., priced at $40 per person. The event also features live music. Doors open at 2 p.m. or 1 p.m. for VIP ticket holders.

    • The Four Tops.

      Saturday: The Four Tops at M Resort

      Motown icons the Four Tops perform at M Resort's M Pavilion. Look forward to hits like "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)," "Baby I Need Your Loving" and "Reach Out I'll Be There." Tickets are $33.50-$43.50 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

    • Boyz II Men

      Saturday-Sunday: Boyz II Men at Mirage

      Boyz II Men redefined popular R&B and continues to create timeless hits. Having just celebrated their 20th anniversary, the band has performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades. The group's award shelf is packed with four Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, nine Soul Train Awards, three Billboard Awards, and a 2011 MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. This weekend’s shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday but the group’s residency extends through the end of the year.

      Saturday-Sunday: Las Vegas Cyclery's grand opening

      Las Vegas Cyclery presents its grand opening weekend celebration at the world's first Net Zero Energy bike shop, located at 10575 Discovery Dr. Enjoy live music, fun runs, green energy tours, electric bike demos, BMX stunt shows, a scooter trick show, road bike rides with the triathlete of the year, guided mountain bike rides from the shop, free food, games and giveaways, running shoe demos, 2013 bike demos and races for children. The free event runs from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
