Early voting for municipal election primaries begins this week

With primaries for municipal elections only a few weeks away, early voting starts this week for city council and mayoral races in North Las Vegas, Henderson and Las Vegas.

Residents can vote early at any of the polling sites within the city in which they live. Voters who haven’t registered to vote in the primaries have until Tuesday to sign up in person at their municipal city clerk’s office.

Here’s when and where you can vote early:

    • Las Vegas

      Las Vegas features three races where incumbent city council members from Wards 2, 4 and 6 will attempt to defend their seats against multiple challengers each.

      Voter registration ends Tuesday and can be done in person at the City Clerk’s Office, 495 S. Main St. Residents can only cast a ballot for the race in their ward but may vote at any polling site in the city during early voting.

      Early voting starts Saturday and runs through March 29. Polling sites vary by the date, location and hours of operation:

      Mayor Shari Buck’s quest for a second term highlights the slate of races in North Las Vegas. In Ward 1, candidates will compete to fill term-limited council member Robert Eliason’s seat, and in Ward 3, incumbent councilwoman Anita Wood will seek a second term.

      Voter registration is open through Tuesday but must be done in person at the City Clerk’s Office, 2250 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Suite 800.

      Residents can only cast a ballot for mayor and for the race in their ward. They can vote at any polling site in the city during early voting.

      Early voting starts Wednesday and runs through March 29. Polling sites vary by the date, location and hours of operation:

      • Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

      Mayor Andy Hafen will seek a second term but must fend off a crowd of six challengers to reclaim his seat. In Ward 3, incumbent John Marz, who was appointed to the council last year, seeks election to his first full term.

      All residents in Henderson can vote for mayor, the Ward 3 race and for municipal court judge at any polling site, regardless of where in the city they live.

      In-person voter registration will take place at the City Clerk’s Office, 240 S. Water St., through Tuesday.

      Early voting starts Saturday and runs through March 29. Polling sites vary by the date, location and hours of operation:

      • Henderson City Hall, 240 S. Water St., Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
