Weekend best bets: Bill Maher, Def Leppard and ‘Shrek The Musical’

March Madness is in full swing but for those looking for other options besides basketball, it is still another exciting weekend for entertainment in Vegas. Check out Bill Maher, Def Leppard or a family-oriented Spring Fest. Here are our best entertainment bets for the weekend:

    • Saturday: Spring Fest at Boulevard mall

      The Easter Bunny arrives at the Boulevard mall for visits and photos with Las Vegas children and families on Saturday. To celebrate the arrival, the center will host its third annual Spring Fest complete with complimentary crafts, face painting, games and music for children ages 2-11. The free event begins at 11 a.m.

    • Def Leppard will play nine shows at the Joint in March and April.

      Friday-Saturday: Def Leppard at The Joint

      Great Britain’s premier arena rock band Def Leppard will take over The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas with Viva Hysteria! During their nine show exclusive engagement, the band will play their iconic album "Hysteria" in its entirety. Tickets are $45.50-$121 and the show starts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. If you’re looking for a pre-show bite, Culinary Dropout unveils its new prix fixe menu for guests heading to shows at The Joint. The $25 two-course menu allows guests to pair an appetizer with their entrée choice. Def Leppard fans can also enjoy specialty cocktails like the Strawberry Sugar on Me and Let’s Get Rocked, inspired by the band’s songs.

    • Kenny Rogers

      Friday: Kenny Rogers at Texas Station

      Kenny Rogers has garnered four Grammy Awards, 11 People's Choice Awards 18 American Music Awards, eight ACMs and five CMAs in decades of performing. With hits like "Lady" in 1980 all the way up to his 2000 single, "Buy Me A Rose," Rogers' staying power is sure to come across in his live performance at Texas Station.

    • Friday: Bob Rocks concert at Orleans

      BOB FM presents Bob Rocks. The concert features an all-star lineup featuring Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Night Ranger, Skid Row, Warrant, Quiet Riot and more. Tickets are $15-$150 and the show starts at 6 p.m.

      Saturday-Sunday: Bill Maher

      Bill Maher has worn many hats as a stand-up comedian, television host, social and political commentator and author. Catch his stand-up act at his new residency at The Pearl at the Palms. Tickets are $58-$101 and the show starts at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

    • Sunday: Jon Bon Jovi at The Joint

      Jon Bon Jovi will rock out with the Kings of Suburbia at The Joint. This will be an exciting solo performance for Jon Bon Jovi where fans can expect to hear favorite hits as well as classic rock ‘n’ roll songs. Tickets are $69-$171 and the concert starts at 8 p.m.

    • <em>Shrek the Musical</em> wraps up its run at the Smith Center this weekend.

      Thursday-Sunday: 'Shrek The Musical' at Smith Center

      "Shrek the Musical," based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life the stage. Tickets are $24-$129 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Sunday with additional 2 p.m. showings Saturday and Sunday.

      Saturday: Easter Seals Walk With Me at Wayne Bunker Park

      Walk tall with community leaders, local heroes and celebrities at Easter Seals Nevada’s fifth annual Walk With Me event at W. Wayne Bunker Family Park. Gather with friends and family for an inspirational two-mile walk, live music, and Easter activities for the whole family. Flamingo headliner George Wallace will entertain the crowd as this year’s host and dance crew the Jabbawockeez will serve as the walk’s grand marshals.

      Pre-walk festivities hosted by George Wallace begin at 9 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 9:30 a.m. At 10:15 a.m., Easter Seals presents its Easter Carnival featuring an Easter egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, games and activities for the family, food, music and more. For a donation of $5, participants will receive entry into the Easter egg hunt.

      Sunday: Wag a Tail Walk-a-Thon at Centennial Hills Park

      Registration for the Wag a Tail Walk-a-Thon two-mile doggy walk begins at 8 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 9 a.m. You and your favorite canines can enjoy a morning filled with entertainment, dog contests, activities for the kids, free refreshments, vendor booths, games and raffle prizes. Registration for the walk is $30 or $15 for students with student ID, and children 12 and under are free. The Polished Pooch fashion contest begins at 10 a.m.

    • Vicky Lawrence

      Saturday: Vicki Lawrence at Suncoast

      Vicki Lawrence of "The Carol Burnett Show" performs in a two woman show along with her beloved character "Mama." Tickets are $17.50-$44 and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
