Las Vegas has long been known as the marriage capital of the world. Now, the city's airport was named one of the best to hook up in.
McCarran International Airport was ranked No. 2 in a list of the country's best airports for hookups, compiled by the niche dating site MeetAtTheAirport.com. The website said it surveyed 70,000 of its members to compile a top-five list.
McCarran landed second behind Los Angeles International Airport.
“Our members had three things to say about McCarran: gambling, gambling, gambling,” company spokesman Darren Shuster said in a statement. “It’s not much of a gamble for a great hook up.”
The dating site based its rankings on airport size, food and bar options, Yelp ratings, demographics and traveler surveys.
“The larger airports tend to have lousy on-time departure records, and that’s a good thing – more time to mix and mingle,” Shuster said. “That also means that larger airports tend to have more social amenities, restaurants and bars.”
Reno-Tahoe International Airport took third place behind McCarran.
“It is...the closest airport to the vacation and ski resort destination of Lake Tahoe," Shuster said. “Filled with skiers, snowboarders, vacationers and gamblers, what’s not to like about this airport for hookups?”
Rounding out the list were Honolulu International Airport at No. 4 and Santa Barbara Airport at No. 5.
