UNLV quick hits:

Want to live like a college basketball coach? It’ll cost you $5 million

Sam Morris

Former UNLV and current Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger watches a tournament at Rancho High in Las Vegas. Kruger says he has been keeping an eye on the progress of his former team. “We’re huge fans of what they’re doing and expect them to continue to do well.”

Three years after it was built and two years after he left for Oklahoma, former UNLV basketball coach Lon Kruger’s Las Vegas home is up for sale. And for most people it would cost more than a few parlays to meet the price tag.

Kruger’s five-bedroom, eight-bath, two-story home is on the market for $4.95 million. Located within the Enclave at Southern Highlands Golf Club, the home covers more than 10,000 square feet with a view of the mountains and a heated pool in the backyard. Kruger listed the home just ahead of this year’s NCAA Tournament, where his Sooners were knocked out in the Round of 64 by San Diego State.

Kruger and OU football coach Bob Stoops can compare notes on real estate as Stoops is also selling a home right now. His Norman, Okla., home, on the market since last year, is can be yours for a mere $1.9 million.

Check out Kruger’s listing here.

  1. Dude, you are not supposed to LIVE in your Las Vegas home. You buy it, hold it for a little while, and then FLIP IT!

Didn't you learn anything from Nicolas Cage?

    Oh wait... bad example....

Nevermind. Just listen to the latest crop of LV real estate hustlers who say that NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY, because there ain't any inventory in Las Vegas these days (BIDDING WARS!), and the cost of new construction is SKYROCKETING!

Any of you with $5 million better get while the getting is good. You don't want to miss out on the NEXT BIG BUBBLE!

  2. I never would've expected Lon Kruger to live in a house that big. This story came as a bit of a surprise. Anyways, it's a very nice house.

  3. The house looks like a collection of gigantic mushrooms squatting together for protection, something that could be fantasized for a new Lord of the Rings sequel. The facade is more suited to pleasing the eccentricities of a drug lord rather than a basketball coach. I'll bet the roof leaks...and the tile on the ground floor is popping up off the slab.

  4. yeh and he gets bounced in the 1st round, again, wonder what pitinos house looks like

  5. Kruger is as bad as a coach as Rice.

  6. Such an impressive house. I'm sure someone would buy it.
And Dodgerchuck, compared to where the Sooners were the past couple of years, it's quite impressive they made the tournament this year. Coach Kruger is great in rebuilding programs.
