Joe Downtown: More eats on the streets of downtown Las Vegas

Downtown’s economic march continues with the recent openings of two eateries, Rachel’s Kitchen and Park on Fremont.

Rachel’s Kitchen opened on the first floor in the southwest corner of the Ogden high-rise, at Las Vegas Boulevard and Ogden Avenue, a few weeks ago. Rachel’s is a local chain with three more restaurants in the Las Vegas Valley.

Park on Fremont is on the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street and is owned by some of the same principals who opened Commonwealth bar, also on Fremont, late last year.

The bar/restaurant had a soft opening this week, but has become a popular destination for locals downtown. Its grand opening is today. One of the more unique details about the place: Owners purchased an old barn in Michigan, tore it down and used the old wood when remodeling the space, which used to be a hookah lounge.

Rachel’s is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; closed Sunday. Park on Fremont is open 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
