The Las Vegas Bowl will have a different feel next winter, starting with the game’s official name, it was announced Thursday.

Officials have ditched MAACO Bowl Las Vegas and gone back to Las Vegas Bowl after MAACO, which had sponsored the game the past four years, didn’t renew its contract after last season’s game. There also is a new logo.

Other details released Thursday include the game again being scheduled on a Saturday, set for 12:30 p.m. Dec. 21. The 2013 game will be televised by ABC, which televised just one bowl game last year.

“We had a tremendously positive response to playing a weekend day game last year, so we are very pleased that the calendar works out this year that we can offer that again,” Dan Hanneke, Las Vegas Bowl executive director, said in a statement. “We love our date and time and think this will benefit the city of Las Vegas as well as the fan bases of the two teams that will play in the 22nd Las Vegas Bowl.”

Last year, 33,217 fans were at Sam Boyd Stadium for Boise State’s victory against Washington. It was the eighth straight season more than 32,000 fans attended the bowl game.
