NV Energy restores power to most customers around Tropicana and Eastern

Electrical service has been restored to nearly all of the 1,200 Las Vegas residences and businesses that lost power for several hours Monday afternoon and evening around Tropicana and Eastern avenues.

By late Monday night only a few customers were still without power, according to Jennifer Davies, an NV Energy spokesperson.

Although Monday was the first 100-degree day of the season for Las Vegas, equipment failure — rather than weather-related problems — was the cause, she said.

Power initially went out about 3:17 p.m. in that area, Davies said. By about 6 p.m., all but about 200 customers had had power restored, she said. She said only about 18 customers were still without power by late Monday night.
