520 Fremont St. , Las Vegas

Galleries and art on display in the former examination rooms of downtown Las Vegas’ Emergency Arts building, a former medical clinic, will be featured in two events at the end of this month.

On Thursday, May 30, an exhibition at City Hall, 495 S. Main St., will feature artists participating in the “Our Las Vegas” project. The exhibit will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the second floor Chamber Gallery at Emergency Arts, 520 Fremont St. Admission is free.

Our Las Vegas was founded by Jon Winet with Ginger Bruner as lead photographer and associate producer. One of its most successful projects is the posting of a new Las Vegas photo each day that can be downloaded to a smartphone.

Then in the evening of Friday, May 31, a buildingwide reception at Emergency Arts featuring not only Our Las Vegas artists but the works on exhibit in all of the building’s galleries, studios and creative spaces.

Joe Schoenmann doesn’t just cover downtown, he lives and works there. Schoenmann is Greenspun Media Group’s embedded downtown journalist, working from an office in the Emergency Arts building.
