Las Vegas 51s starter Carlos Torres limited the Reno Aces to three hits while pitching into the seventh inning Wednesday night and Kirk Nieuwenhuis scored three runs in a 7-1 victory at Cashman Field.
Torres struck out seven batters to earn the win, and two Las Vegas relievers held Reno scoreless in the final 2 1/3 innings. Reno had just five hits.
Josh Satin had the big bat for Las Vegas, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs. Shortstop Brandon Hicks went 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored.
The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
