Metro Police today arrested a homeless man suspected of killing another homeless man during a fight on the bridge between the MGM Grand and New York-New York, authorities said.

Joseph Gilbert Hyde, 54, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder.

Hyde is suspected of shoving Michael Burtosky on Sept. 14, causing him to hit his head on the ground or escalator, according to a Metro arrest warrant. He died from blunt force trauma.

The report indicates the following:

Several days before the incident, a witness saw Burtosky get into a fight with Hyde in which Hyde told Burtosky to leave him and his girlfriend alone. He told Burtosky he would beat him up and throw him off the bridge.

On Sept. 14, another witness saw Burtosky, who appeared intoxicated, get into another argument with Hyde. Hyde allegedly punched Burtosky in the head and shoved him with a walker, the report said.

Burtosky stumbled and hit his head on either the escalator or floor, the report said.

Hyde is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 7 for a preliminary hearing.
