letter to the editor:

Looking to Lake Powell for water

The Nov. 16 column by Christopher Cokinos, “In the desert, the hypocrisy footprint,” raises the question that if enough water evaporates from a pool each year to fill it, how much water evaporates each year from Lake Powell? How many acre feet?

Would it not make sense to reduce the size of Lake Powell and keep Lake Mead filled? I believe Lake Mead has a smaller surface area than Lake Powell, and therefore less water is lost to evaporation.
