Man struck, killed while crossing Tropicana near the Strip

Pedestrian struck

A man died today after two cars struck him as he attempted to walk across Tropicana Avenue outside a marked crosswalk.

Metro Police responded to the incident about 3:10 a.m. on Tropicana Avenue, near the Strip. A 48-year-old man was crossing Tropicana when a Ford SUV struck him, throwing him into the left-turn lane, Metro officials said.

Another vehicle traveling in the left-turn lane tried to stop before hitting the man but struck him with the underside of the front bumper, Metro said. The man was taken to University Medical Center Trauma, where he was pronounced dead.

Metro is investigating the crash.
