Virgin Valley made its 80-mile drive to Rancho High well worthwhile Thursday night.

The Bulldogs smashed the Rams from the opening whistle, leaving town with a 72-6 victory.

“We’re trying to execute at a high level,” Virgin Valley coach Chris Sawyers said. “We’re trying to be as efficient as we can and not worry about the opponent.”

Scoring 58 points in the opening half registers as such. Quarterback Garrett Leavitt threw for four touchdowns, on 5-for-8 passing, before Sawyers pulled his starters.

DeVonte Milligan scored on both of his receptions. Harold Caswell got into the end zone too on a pass from Leavitt as did Dee Bowler, who also rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

The Virgin Valley defense also joined in on the rout, returning two fumbles for touchdowns.
