Metro investigating alleged attack by zoo owner on reporter

Embattled Las Vegas Zoo owner and director Pat Dingle allegedly attacked a KSNV Channel 3 reporter who was at his door Tuesday night seeking an interview.

Metro Police responded to a report of battery at about 7:30 p.m. at Dingle’s home in the 5700 block of Madre Mesa Drive.

Video footage of the incident on mynews3.com showed reporter Amber Dixon knocking on Dingle’s door. Dingle, whose zoo recently closed and is under inspection with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, answered the door and then slammed it on Dixon and the photographer.

Dixon knocked again, but this time, Dingle answered the door and appeared to swing his arm at her.

Metro issued a misdemeanor battery citation to Dingle, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.
