Troubleshooting Nevada health exchange delayed by missing documents

CARSON CITY — An analysis of problems with Nevada’s health exchange is behind schedule because operator Xerox has failed to turn over documents to a company hired to fix the system, officials said.

The state hired Deloitte Consulting for $1.5 million to figure out what is wrong with the system and recommend fixes. The health exchange website has been plagued with glitches since it launched in October.

Debasis Saha of Deloitte told the state Board of Examiners today that the company had asked Xerox for 188 documents to help in its assessment, but 28 of those still have not been delivered. Saha said the missing documents are delaying the assessment.

David Hamilton of Xerox told the board the missing documents would be supplied within 24 hours.

Hamilton also said Xerox would have final numbers by Thursday on the number of people who signed up for insurance through the exchange by the March 31 deadline.

Preliminary figures released last week showed 25,899 people had enrolled and paid their insurance premiums.

The state’s goal was 50,000 by March 31.
