Las Vegas 51s pitcher Noah Syndergaard warms up during practice at Cashman Field on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

Top pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard pitched five effective innings today for the Las Vegas 51s in a 5-2 victory against host Fresno.

Syndergaard, who struck out five and surrendered two earned runs, was credited with the win after the 51s scored three runs in the sixth inning to break a 2-all tie and take the lead for good.

In the decisive sixth, Wilmer Flores had an RBI single, Allan Dykstra walked to force in a run and Zach Lutz was hit by a pitch to force in another run.

Dykstra had a run-scoring single in the first inning for Las Vegas and scored later in the inning on Matt den Dekker’s double to give the 51s an early 2-0 lead. Chris Young went 2 for 3 for Las Vegas with two runs scored, making him 7 of 8 in two rehabilitation games.

Las Vegas (9-3) took three of four games from Fresno. The 51s open a four-game series Tuesday at the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
