Work to impact downtown traffic starting next week

Drivers can expect some traffic delays downtown starting next week and continuing into the summer.

NV Energy is relocating underground electrical conduits, which will restrict traffic along Main Street and nearby streets starting April 21, according to a city press release.

A single lane of traffic will stay open both ways the entire time and people will still be able to access businesses, according to the release.

NV Energy is expected to finish the job sometime in July, according to the release.

The work is funded by NV Energy and involves relocating conduits on Main Street from Bonneville Avenue to Ogden Avenue, according to the release.

The work will start at Bonneville Avenue and progress toward Clark Avenue, then move to Bridger Avenue and finally to Ogden Avenue, according to the release.

The replacements are in anticipation of the city's Main Street Improvement Project, which includes "a new storm drain, sanitary sewer and streetscape improvements," according to the release.

The Main Street Improvement Project is expected to kick off late June and be completed sometime in the fall of 2015.
