Pedestrian struck by vehicle is in critical condition

A pedestrian was critically injured Tuesday night when he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Jones Boulevard outside of any marked crosswalk, Metro Police reported.

The incident happened about 8:50 p.m., just south of Fairbanks Road. A witness statement and evidence at the scene indicate a 2005 Lexus was headed north on Jones Boulevard as the pedestrian, identified as Jiahong Wang, 57, of Las Vegas, was trying to cross the street, police said.

As the Wang entered the northbound center travel lane, he was hit by the Lexus, police said.

He was taken to University Medical Center was life-threatening injures, police said.

The 47-year-old driver of the Lexus suffered minor injuries, officials said.

The incident was under investigation.
