Las Vegas 51s:

51s’ Montero fires one-hitter over 8 innings to blank Sacramento

Rafael Montero pitched a one-hit shutout over eight innings today for the Las Vegas 51s in a 3-0 victory at Sacramento.

The lone hit Montero surrendered was a fifth-inning single to Sacramento’s Nick Buss, striking out 11 batters and walking just two. Reliever Chase Bradford struck out the Sacramento side in the ninth inning to earn the save.

Las Vegas (66-53) scored a run in the first and second innings. Matt den Dekker and Matt Reynolds had consecutive singles to open the game for Las Vegas, and den Dekker scored to give the 51s a 1-0 lead on Allan Dykstra’s sacrifice fly.

In the second, Kevin Plawecki scored on Anthony Seratelli’s groundout.

The 51s are off Wednesday. They return to Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. Thursday for a four-game series with Albuquerque.
