Man arrested on DUI count after pedestrian hit crossing road

A Las Vegas man was arrested on a count of driving under the influence on Sunday after hitting a man pushing a bicycle across Flamingo Road outside of a marked crosswalk, Metro Police reported.

A 2014 Chevrolet Camaro was eastbound on Flamingo near Paradise Road just before 5:45 p.m. when it hit the pedestrian, who was seriously injured, police said.

The pedestrian, Donald Tarr, 64, of Las Vegas, was taken by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

The driver of the car, Leonard Yadao, 39, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on a count of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Metro news release.

Neither Yadao nor two occupants in the car were injured, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
