Two people are dead after a domestic dispute in the northern valley resulted in a stabbing death and a suicide, Metro Police said.
The incident began at about 5 p.m., when a man rammed his girlfriend's car as she was arriving home in the area of the Los Prados Golf and Country Club, near Lone Mountain Road and Jones Boulevard, Metro Lt. Dave Valenta said.
The man approached his girlfriend's car and broke her window. He then stabbed her 13 times, Valenta said.
The woman was taken to University Medical Center where she later died.
The man fled the scene and attempted a home invasion in the 4600 block of Candlas Way, near Decatur Boulevard and La Madre Way, but he was shot by the homeowner, Valenta said.
The man then took his own life with a knife.
Police believe a child custody dispute may have triggered this situation as the couple had a child together.
No information was given about the child's whereabouts or condition.
The incident is under investigation.
