Rain falls Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, in the southeast Las Vegas Valley. This image was taken looking east from the 8200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South.

A thunderstorm in the northwest part of the valley produced small hailstones today, according to the National Weather Service.

The brief storm, which began shortly after 5 p.m., left behind strong winds and heavy rains, meteorologist Reid Wolcott said.

Hail was reported in the area near Buffalo Drive and Craig Road.

A flood advisory has been issued for the northern part of the valley until 7:30 p.m. as the storm moves towards Nellis Air Force Base.
