Letter to the editor:

Point about Obama misses mark

I was watching “WYP?” (“What’s Your Point?”) and became angry at the disingenuous remarks made by Amy Tarkanian over Syria, Ukraine and Iraq. She and many other conservatives whine and complain about President Barack Obama’s reaction to foreign affairs but have zero solutions.

They yell, scream and whine, but as of yet, I hear no chirping other than, “President Obama is wrong.” Wrong for keeping American troops out of areas we shouldn’t be in? Wrong for not arming potential radicals? Wrong for helping the Kurds and Yazidis because they face genocide?

Ms. Tarkanian, like others in her group, suggests we take military action, but in what form? Should we put boots on the ground in Ukraine, arm rebels in Syria who may one day use those weapons on Americans, or send another 4,400-plus Americans to die in combat?

I am bothered by Ms. Tarkanian’s attitude because it won’t be her children suited up and sent into combat. As usual, it’s always the working poor or middle class who fight wars for these sabre-rattling warmongers.

On the subject of the president using off-color language, Ms. Tarkanian needs to listen to audiotapes of the language used by other presidents in the Oval Office. Again, she is being completely disingenuous.
