Man hit by car after crashing his own loses leg Sunday morning

A man lost his leg during a Sunday morning crash on northbound U.S. 95 near the Martin Luther King Boulevard exit, according to Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Loy Hixson.

Nevada Highway Patrol got the call at 5:23 a.m after the male struck the center median and continued to the offramp toward Martin Luther King. After the car crashed, the man exited the car and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The woman driving the vehicle fled the scene, and the man was taken to University Medical Center in critical care.

Both drivers were suspected of drunk driving. Nevada Highway Patrol was able to find the vehicle that fled the scene, and the woman was arrested for the hit and run and drunk driving. There is a pending DUI charge for the man hit by the vehicle.
