Blue Diamond Road
CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Transportation is speeding up a safety project on Blue Diamond Road, where there have been a number of accidents.
Director Rudy Malfabon told the NDOT board today that state money will be used on the estimated $960,000 project. He said the department would have to go through additional steps if federal funds were involved.
The work calls for a traffic signal and crosswalk at the intersection with Cimarron Road and crosswalks at Buffalo Drive and and Durango Drive.
A 14-year-old girl was killed in November while walking at the Cimarron intersection.
Malfabon said the work could be done in August, before school starts.
