In recent weeks, military representatives of both China and Iran have made boasts and threats toward the United States.
These types of threats and boasts are highly inappropriate and unacceptable. I recommend that an announcement be made to the American people by our government that, in response to these recent threats and warnings — which we take very seriously — the American people are assured that the U.S. government possesses and will use the strike force capabilities to retaliate against anyone who launches any attacks against the U.S.
We must not tolerate bullying or threats from any country.
