SPARKS — Sparks police are investigating a fatal shooting after a man says he shot another man and woman he found inside a vacant home he owns near Sparks High School.
Police say the homeowner who lives elsewhere in Sparks was detained but not arrested and is cooperating with investigators.
Officers were called to the house a block from the high school at 7:45 a.m. Thursday.
Police Lt. Chad Hawkins told the Reno Gazette-Journal they found a man dead inside and a woman with gunshot wounds a block away. He says the homeowner heard someone was living in the vacant home, found the two inside and shot at them.
Hawkins said the woman was being treated for non-life threatening injuries at a Reno hospital.
No names have been released.
