letter to the editor:

Politicians don’t represent us well

Our political system has failed the American people. The only voice that we the people have is at the ballot box every two years. It is crucial that everyone get out to vote! Every vote matters!

Republicans know that every vote matters and have devoted a significant amount of time, money and effort to make it extremely difficult and perhaps impossible for some people to cast their vote.

This tactic will backfire; the people will get fired up and will become even more inspired to make sure their voices are heard loud and clear.

The almighty dollar from the richest American people dictates how our government governs, but who is speaking up for the majority of the Americans?

The vast majority of voters are working people just trying to get by.

Today, politicians represent the top wage earners who ultimately provide them with wealth, opportunity and power. The average net worth of all of our politicians in Washington is more than $1 million. How can they relate to the average worker? They can’t!

They will craft their sound bites to appeal to the needs of the group they are addressing, but it is just poor acting in front of a camera, with a script written by their donors.

The politicians representing the people are an exclusive country club of arrogant, self-serving, money- and power-hungry, paid-for hacks.

How did we get in this position? Bring back Jimmy Stewart as Mr. Smith going to Washington.
