Three displaced by North Las Vegas apartment fire

Three displaced by apartment fire

Three people were displaced from their North Las Vegas residences Saturday night after a fire destroyed two apartments.

North Las Vegas Fire and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded about 10:45 p.m. to the fire at 2216 Ellis St., near Judson Avenue and Belmont Street. Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke showing from the front window, North Las Vegas Fire Capt. Cedric Williams said.

A woman was home at the time of the fire, but she was able to evacuate safely. The male occupant was not home at the time of the fire. The smoke also entered an apartment next door, causing the resident to evacuate, Williams said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in about five minutes. The fire destroyed the apartment, causing about $65,000 in damage, and also caused smoke damage to the next door apartment.

North Las Vegas Fire is investigating the incident.
