Car bombs kill at least 10 people in Iraqi capital

BAGHDAD — Officials say two car bombs in Baghdad have killed at least 10 people.

A police officer says the blast from a parked car rigged with explosives ripped through a bus station in the capital's southwestern neighborhood of Bayaa on Tuesday, killing seven commuters and wounding 18. He added three people were killed and 12 wounded when another car bomb exploded in a commercial area in the nearby Alam neighborhood.

A medical official confirmed the casualty figures. Both spoke anonymously as they were not authorized to release information.

The attacks came a day after a series of explosions in the capital left at least 23 dead. Iraq is experiencing a resurge in violence to levels unseen since the worst of the country's sectarian bloodletting began to subside in 2007.
