Too many children have died and too many communities have been affected by gun violence. How many more people have to die before action is taken to close the loopholes on background checks for gun purchases?
We need to reduce gun violence in America. I believe strongly in a person’s right to bear arms, but we cannot be irresponsible with gun ownership by not effectively implementing background checks that screen people for mental illness or criminal backgrounds.
More than 80 percent of Nevadans and more than 90 percent of Americans support background checks. The people have spoken out in overwhelming numbers to make America a safer place to live through responsible gun sales.
So, why isn’t Congress listening to the people? Why are our lawmakers not working to help protect the people?
