Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest:

Here’s the winner of the Christmas cartoon contest

Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest

Mike Smith

The winner of the December edition of the Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest is: “Once again, you told me size did not matter. Just another lie,” from Brian Goode.

If the shopping, cooking, cleaning, traveling and now credit card bills have you down, here's a cartoon to help you smile now that the holidays are over.

We asked readers to give us their best captions for Mike Smith's holiday cartoon. We picked the five best, then you voted for the top pick.

And the winner is: "Once again, you told me size did not matter. Just another lie."

Brian Goode's entry received 35 percent of the vote for the win.

Goode also took second place, only a couple votes behind the winning entry: "Maybe you should give it love and encouragement. Oh wait, I forgot whom I was talking to."

The other finalists are:

• "It's all that would fit in our Smart Car," by user owntheday, received 12 percent of the vote.

• "Do you want the lights to go around in a circle or do you want them in perpendicular lines?" by Tove Christoffersen got 10 percent of the vote.

• "Guess there really is a war on Christmas," by user crackedbeak received 8 percent of the vote.

Thanks to everyone who participated. We'll have a new contest posted soon.
