LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas judge scheduled a Monday bail hearing for a 21-year-old Arizona woman charged with attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon in a Christmas week shooting that left a motorist badly wounded on the Las Vegas Strip.
The judge on Friday also appointed lawyers for Brittanie Merritt-Burwell and her boyfriend, Joshua Youngblood.
She set a Jan. 17 preliminary hearing of evidence in the Dec. 23 shooting on Las Vegas Boulevard.
Merritt-Burwell and Youngblood said nothing in court. They remain in custody.
Merritt-Burwell is accused of attempted murder for allegedly shooting the man in the neck in what police describe as a traffic dispute.
Merritt-Burwell later acknowledged wielding a silver handgun and told investigators she was defending herself.
The 28-year-old Youngblood faces felony concealed weapon and accessory charges.
