Woman's death

Homicide detectives are investigating a woman’s death in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

Metro Police Officer Bill Cassell said a man walked into a police substation in the 3600 block of Harmon Avenue just before 3 p.m. to let staff know that a woman had been injured in the 6500 block of Vegas Drive, near Torrey Pines Drive.

Officers went to the location and found a woman “suffering from what originally appeared to be life threatening injuries that turned out to be fatal injuries,” Cassell said. Police could not immediately describe the nature of her wounds or say whether she was already dead by the time police arrived.

The man who alerted police had injuries of his own and was bleeding, Cassell said. The substation was briefly closed to the public while investigators examined the area he walked through.

It was not known late Friday whether the man was hospitalized or detained.
