Arson arrest made
A 25-year-old man was arrested today after he allegedly set a fire in his house while four adults and two children were home, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
Metro Police responded about 12:45 a.m. to reports of a domestic dispute in the 7800 block of Sparkle Avenue, near Summerlin Parkway and Buffalo Drive. There, they discovered smoke coming from an upstairs bathroom and notified Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Szymanski said.
Police determined one of the occupants had put cardboard and wood items in a bathtub and attempted to light them on fire, Szymanski said.
Fire investigators arrested Joeshawn Sterling on one count of first-degree arson. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
Fire damage was confined to the bathtub, Szymanski said. No one was injured.
