A local judge ordered a Nellis Air Force Base airman held without bail to await the filing of criminal charges in the slaying of his wife at their home at the base outside North Las Vegas.

Rickey L. Massey Jr. said nothing and was not represented by an attorney during a brief videoconference appearance Tuesday from the Clark County jail.

North Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Natalie Tyrrell said Massey wasn't eligible for bail and gave prosecutors a week to file criminal charges.

An aide to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said prosecutors had not yet received a police report in the case.

Massey, 32, was arrested Friday, after Nellis security officials summoned Las Vegas police to a Kevil Circle home where the body of 34-year-old Theresa Rivera was found, police said.

The Clark County coroner ruled that Rivera asphyxiated and said her death was a homicide.

Tech. Sgt. Erin Worley, a Nellis base spokeswoman, said Massey is a technical sergeant at the base about 10 miles north of downtown Las Vegas. Massey's service history and hometown weren't immediately made public.

Worley said it wasn't known if Rivera was a service member.

Police said Rivera and Massey argued at home hours before base security officers found her body.
