Vegas Play of the Day: Lakers at Orlando Magic

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point.

Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Orlando Magic minus-1.5 vs. Los Angeles Lakers: $440 to win $400 : This is the sixth game of a seven-game road trip for the Lakers, which is 4-14 in their last 18 games and have arguably thrown in the towel. They put up a big-time fight Thursday at Miami, but that’s only because it was a national televised game. They’ll be tired tonight from the maximum effort.

The Lakers haven’t been able to overcome injuries to their best players, forcing them to use D-League call-ups in the starting lineup and regular rotation. Ryan Kelly, rookie and second-round pick, is part of the starting lineup. He’s a borderline pro. Manny Harris played 21 minutes against the Heat — he was in the D-League earlier this season.

The bad news for this play is Orlando is equally bad, losing 11 of 12 games in 2014. But, at least, they didn’t play last night.

Standings: Bern (2-3, $9,500), Brewer (1-3-1, $9,070), Keefer (2-5, $8,787.50)
