2 people suffer smoke inhalation in Las Vegas house fire

House Fire

Two people suffered smoke inhalation after their house caught fire Tuesday in northern Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded about 3:55 p.m. to 4410 Parkchester Drive, near Vegas and Rancho drives. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming from a rear bedroom of the one-story home, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Two senior adults were in the bedroom when the fire started and yelled to their other two roommates, also seniors, to get out, Szymanski said. All four were able to escape, but the two people in the bedroom were transported to a hospital with smoke inhalation, Szymanski said.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in about 20 minutes, but the fire caused about $75,000 damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined, Szymanski said.
