Shadow Ridge student arrested for knife possession

A Shadow Ridge High School student was arrested this morning after allegedly carrying a knife onto a school bus.

A parent called in a tip about the knife about 6 a.m., said Sgt. Mitch Maciszak with the Clark County School District Police Department. North Las Vegas Police pulled over the school bus and found the weapon inside the student’s backpack.

The student, 16, was arrested by school district police and faces juvenile charges for carrying a concealed weapon.

Maciszak declined to specify the student’s gender. He urged parents to be vigilant of their children and to report suspicious activity.
