Metro Police and SWAT team members were involved in a standoff with a suicidal man this afternoon, Lt. Mark Reddon said.
Police received a call about 3:30 p.m. from a woman who said her father was feeling depressed and wanted to kill himself, Reddon said.
Officers arrived to find a man holding a rifle and standing on the roof of his house on Roanridge Avenue, near Hacienda Avenue.
A barricade was set up, and a negotiator called the man on his cellphone.
The standoff ended around 5:05 p.m. when the man put down his rifle and turned himself over to police, Reddon said.
The man was taken to University Medical Center for a mental evaluation, Reddon said.
