Metro seeks suspect in slaying of woman outside convenience store

Shooting in 7-Eleven parking lot

A woman killed in a shooting Thursday evening outside a 7-Eleven was in a car in the parking lot when a man drove up and fired once through the windshield, police say.

The shooting happened around 5:49 p.m. at the 7-Eleven, 2691 W. Sahara Ave. Metro Police homicide investigators determined the woman was in a car in the store’s parking lot when an unknown male entered the vehicle. As they were sitting together, another male drove up in front of the car. A single round was fired.

The man in the car fled, as did the man in the victim's car.

The woman, who was hit in the chest, was transported to University Medical Center and declared dead.

Metro Police are searching for the suspect, whom they describe as a white or light-skinned black male. The suspect was driving a black sedan believed to be a Nissan.

The slaying is the 70th homicide investigated by Metro this year.

Police are urging anyone with information to call the Metro Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
